The United Kingdom is not among the top 10 European countries when it comes to dental hygiene, despite having lower sugar consumption and fewer smokers than most of Europe. According to a recent study, people in Ireland, Lithuania and Azerbaijan take better care of their teeth than those in the UK. Despite this, the UK still managed to rank sixth overall due to its 16 dental schools, the fourth highest figure out of the 26 countries surveyed. The UK is second in terms of dental conditions in all of Europe, despite having one of the lowest numbers of dentists per capita.
These findings were divided into three categories: dental health, dental facilities, and negative influences on dental health.
